Adobe InDesign has emerged as the leading desktop publishing
powerhouse, offering many features but in a complex package. The newest
version of InDesign goes even further in its capabilities and complexity.
That's why even experienced users benefit from expert advice and resources.
This site aims to provide that advice and expertise, as well as a convenient
location for both tried-and-true and new resources.
Now Available: InDesign CS4
Adobe has made InDesign CS4 and InCopy CS4 available for sale, both individually and as part of the new Creative Suite 4 product line. (Trial versions can be obained from Adobe's download page; you can order the software here.) Galen's InDesign CS4 For Dummies and Adobe InDesign CS4 Bible books are now available. You can order them from the links at right. For more details on the newest version's capabilities, check out Galen's InDesign CS4 review and InDesign CS4 "first look" preview for Macworld.
Avoid bundle confusion. Not sure what's in each CS4 bundle? See Adobe's handy comparison chart. Also note that if you upgrade to a suite and want a product not in that suite, you'll need to pay full price for that additional product (unless you own a previous version of it, of course, and qualify for an upgrade specifically to it).
Version Cue update required. The Version Cue shared project and version management feature that came with the Creative Suite was disabled by Adobe as it began manufacturing the product DVDs, due to bugs found when it was too late to correct them in the shipping software. Adobe made the 4.0.1 Version Cue Server update available the day before Thanksgiving, and you will need to install this update (choose Help Updates in any CS4 app) to use Version Cue.
