Welcome to
InDesign Central

Adobe InDesign has emerged as a leading desktop publishing powerhouse, offering many features but in a complex package. The newest version of InDesign goes even further in its capabilities and complexity. That's why even experienced users benefit from expert advice and resources. This site aims to provide that advice and expertise, as well as a convenient location for both tried-and-true and new resources.

InDesign CS3 Reviews and Downloads

Adobe is shipping InDesign CS3 and InCopy CS3 individually and as part of the new Creative Suite 3 product line. (Trial versions can be obained from Adobe's download page.) For more details on the newest version's capabilities, check out Galen's InDesign CS3 review and his InCopy CS3 review for Macworld magazine and his InDesign CS3 preview for Macworld Online.

Avoid bundle confusion. Not sure what's in each CS3 bundle? See Adobe's handy comparison chart. Note that most of the ImageReady functionality has been absorbed into Photoshop and Dreamweaver, which both the Design Premium and Web Premium suites include. (The biggest exception is image maps, for which you'll need Fireworks, and that comes either separately or as part of the Web suites.) Also note that if you upgrade to a suite and want a product not in that suite, you'll need to pay full price for that additional product (unless you own a previous version of it, of course, and qualify for an upgrade specifically to it).

InDesign CS2 and InCopy CS2 users: Be sure to update your software with the 4.05 updaters so your software can open the interchange files generated by InDesign CS3 and InCopy CS3. Choose HelpUpdates to install these updates if you don't already have automatic updating set up.
